Baby Naming
Would you like to mark the birth of your baby surrounded by family and friends but like an increasingly growing number of people, a Christening isn’t for you? Why not choose a baby naming ceremony? A typical ceremony lasts about 20 minutes and it is really up to you, the parents how you would like to organise the day. Naming ceremonies are not legally binding and do not have any legal status.
Some options for the day arE:
- You can choose to read poetry or a have favourite childhood story read with music in the background.
- Rather than godparents, whose traditional role is to help guide the child in a Christian life, "supporting adults" or "mentors" (who may be friends or family) just need to say that they will be there for your child as he or she grows up and throughout their lives in whatever way they may be needed.
- Have a tree planting ceremony
- Or a wishing well ceremony, where all your family and friends write their wishes for the baby.
- Sand ceremony for blended families, get their siblings involved.
